Welcome to my webpage

As a political scientist with a keen interest in how political institutions and citizens interact in the new globalized digital era, I conduct research on a variety of topics including parliaments, elections, political parties, political behavior, and public engagement. My research covers a wide range of interests, from parties' electoral fortunes to the quality of democracy and digital politics.

Throughout my work, I have been deeply engaged in exploring the challenging relationship between parliaments and citizens, often supported by digital media. I have also provided consultation and expertise to international institutions and national parliaments (e.g. Portugal, Peru), with a focus on strengthening parliamentary capacity and strategies of public engagement.

My contributions have been published in various scholarly journals such as Policy & Internet, Party Politics, and The Journal of Legislative Studies, among others. Additionally, my research has been featured in global media outlets like World Politics Review (USA), RTV (Spain), and MO-Magazin (Austria), as well as national media outlets in Portugal, such as Lusa, Publico, Expresso, Observador, Renascença, CNN Portugal, Diário de Notícias, Antena 1, and Visão.

Currently, I am the FLAD Visiting Professor in the Department of Government at Georgetown University in Washington, DC, and also hold a Postdoctoral Research Fellow position at the University of Lisbon. During my graduate and postgraduate work, I had the opportunity to be a visiting scholar at Oxford University, the University of Leeds, and the University of Vienna.
